MacBeth is an interesting play with many benefits and is a good play for secondary school students to read. It has a variety of lessons that can be taught through the reading of it and it is also a prime example of literature from the sixteen hundreds. However, it is a play that is beneficial because it teaches right and wrong, it educates the reader regarding medieval history, and it teaches that there are consequences for every action.

This is apparent through the killings that MacBeth commits or has a hand in committing within the play. The guilt he shows whenever he commits or helps commit a murder clearly relays the message that he has done something wrong. This is taught in MacBeth due to the fact that, because MacBeth murdered his way up the Royal ladder, bloodying the rungs, he faced consequences in the end that were the death of him. Had he foreseen or examined the consequences closer before committing his actions, he would not be in the mess he was. This lesson can be relayed to students since it is undoubtedly a lesson that was meant to be taught at the end of the play, like a moral of one of Asop's Fables. The lesson could help with the teenagers of today if they get it, and therefore it is valuable that we teach it to them.
