A detailed Summary of Football

I am going to tell everyone today a little bit about football. I am going to let you know about some of the positions, what the positions do, how to win football games.

Every team's ultimate goal is to score points in order to win games. But you can't win games unless you stop the other team from scoring points, which brings me to talk about defense. You have to have a good defense. Without a good defense you simply can not win games. A defense consists of 3 major categories. A defensive line, linebackers, and a secondary.

1st) Your defensive line which is made up of 2 defensive tackles and 2 defensive ends have to be able to get penetration threw the other teams offensive line to get to their quarterback, in a passing situation. If the other team decides to run the ball then your defensive line is the first line of defense to stop the run. If your line can accomplish this then this does a few things:

1.) When you get penetration is makes the quarterback rush to maybe make a bad decision.

2.) It puts you in a better situation to stop a run play before it even starts.

Your offensive line plays a big role in the success of an offense. Because without run blocking or pass protection you can't execute plays. Your offensive line consists of 7 guys. A center, 2 guards, 2 tackles, and 2 tight ends.

If your linebackers can accomplish these things then you've teamed up with your defensive line to eliminate the run, you have provided pass coverage, and you have put the thought in the quarterbacks head that you just may blitz.

Your running backs have to be very durable, quick, and fast. Also able to make quick decisions about which way they are going to go or cut. His main job is to run the ball, provide pass protection in case of a blitz, and to be a receiver if need be. That is one of the reasons a team needs a good offensive line/running back combo because if you can run the ball and the defense just can't stop it, then their pretty much beaten. It also sets your offense up for the play action. Play action is when an offense is running the ball so successfully that the defense assumes the offense is going to keep running the ball. Then the offense just simply fakes a run play which freezes the defense just enough to where your receivers can get open for a big play.
