The short story "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, discusses the trials and tribulations a marriage can bring. The character in the story Mrs. Mallard led a sheltered and unhappy life. Freedom enticed the Mallard residence with the passing of her husband and the irony of the story pictured the years of happiness to come; yet in an instance it was taken away from her. What seemed like a miracle came to a fatal end.

In Mrs. Mallard's case, she didn't forget. Perhaps it was only a mistake or the simple feelings someone might have for the other and the unthinkable happens. Soon the couple is married and after a few years the love is gone and the misery begins. "Yet she loved him- sometimes, often she had not," we can't be sure that she never loved him but her actions said it all. She gave up the love her husband had for her at a chance for freedom.
