Narrative Essay on an Emergency That Changed My LIfe
An Emergency That Changed My Life Forever The worst day of my life started out to be a normal, run of the mill day. I wish I could say the same for it?s ending. By the end of the day, I would know to never take anything for granted. I wo ke up feeling a little lonely because my daughter was spending the weekend away at grandma?s house. I agreed to baby-sit Rashad, my nine-year-old neighbor, while his dad worked. After dressing my one-year-old son, Gabriel, I decided to back the car out of the garage to try to get the ?wash me? imprint off. The boys were excited about washing the car. Gabriel loved to hold the hose; and Rashad liked to play in the bubbles. Although he was nine, Rashad had a troubled upbringing before his father won custody of him. He had not yet developed any verbal skills; but the big grin on his face spoke volumes. He couldn?t wait to get outside. Knowing my son was a little rambunctious, I told them to stay inside until I pulled the car out and then I would come back for them. ?Be right back,? I told them in my ?Barney? tone of voice. My church family is in the waiting room and when I come out to give them an update, they ask how the other baby is because the little girl says I hit two children. I remind them that my daughter is away for the weekend; and that Rashad is fine. He was still standing on the porch when this terrible event occurred. The witness, who I later find out, is in my daughter?s class, says that she saw Amber at the back of the car, too. There is no way, I tell them. Amber is 300 miles away. Then they begin to insinuate that if they didn?t know any better they would say this didn?t happen. I know this is the farthest from the I ran to the back of the house to my room and laid Gabriel on the bed. Just then, I heard him let out a loud snore. Could he be sleep? I didn?t know what to think. I called my mother and told her what happened. Just then, I heard a stranger enter my house, screaming, ? Ma?am, ma?am, do you need help?? It was the little girl and her mother. I began to try to explain what I didn?t even understand myself yet. ?I didn?t see him, he is
