Computers (end of humanity)
Computers are a part of everyone's life. Although they do help us live much easier lives, they also raise many questions about our well being. Will our weight problem continue to rise, due to many people sitting in front of computers all day? Do we have enough money to keep up with personal computer technology? Are people going to become "stupider" because of dependence on computers for average problems? Almost everyone uses the web for some reason or another. What if it suddenly stopped working (Y2K), is there any way we could survive this? Will computers take over all communication devices? If so, it could result in massive job loss, which would put many people in the streets. I have been around computers for years. I understand how they affect our nation, our continent, and our world. I think computers are a necessary part of life, but they can many times do more harm than good. The United States has a major health problem. Many people are overweight, most likely due to being inactive, which is caused in part by computers. I am overweight and blame it mainly on computers. I used to spend all day sitting in front of the computer, searching the Internet. But many people don't understand that there is more to do
Everyone is growing dependent to computers in one way or another. What if something happened, such as all of the computers just completely stop. Computers become unusable, which means that every single thing in the countries with technology is unusable. This would cause a few problems obliviously. We all have some kind of experience with this already happening, or at least the threat of it. The Y2K bug gave every big business and corporation a good scare in 1999. Some people were predicting it was the end of the world. If something happens, there would be no hope, because everything in life is ran by computers. The Y2K bug was a problem in the computes system where the original programmers didn't allow the computer to read the year 2000. So therefore, when the clocks struck midnight on new years eve, 1999, all computers would think we're in the year 1900. This would mess up pretty much anything having to do with computers. Bank accounts, stock market, etc, would all be nearly demolished. Everyday on the news I heard about how everyone should pull all of his or her money out of the bank. Families were stock piling food and water. My parents even bought a generator in case the electricity company went down. We had to wait almost two weeks before we could get a generator because they were selling so quickly. The Y2K bug was a very serious problem. If this would have actually happened, I really do think it could have been the start of the end to human civilization. The pentagon's computers would have all crashed, which may have caused the U.S. nuclear weapons to deploy, which many people were predicting would happen. This would have been a great start to the end of the world. I'm not really sure our government could handle something at this stature. If the computers were to crash, one of the major forms of communication would have also been lost. than play on the computer. Indiana is one of the fattest states in the U.S. and many doctors are blaming it on computers or television. Many of the tasks that our parents and grandparents did can now be done over the Internet. This is a good thing, but it's also a bad thing, causing people to become lazy. Shopping for Christmas gifts can now be done entirely over the Internet, allowing us to never leave our chair, or wor
