Loom Beading
A detailed Summary of Loom Beading
I am doing a set of instructions on the process of beading. I will describe the different types of looms, beads, needles, and thread. I will also include instructions for simple beading on a loom, and a few finishing methods.
There are many types of looms, the most common being wood or metal. It is easy enough to make a loom, or buy a small one for 5 to 15 dollars. The large looms, used for larger style belts and bags, can usually cost 20 dollars and up. A small one is sufficient for bracelets, earrings, belts, and small bags.
Beads can come in a variety of colors, sizes, and brands. They can originate in Japan, and the Czech Republic. Czech beads are the least expensive, with Japanese beads and Japanese Delica beads as expensive and most expensive, respectively. The Delica are more expensive because they are made with assistance of a computer, and are, therefore, more uniform in size and shape. The size is determined by how many beads, when lain flat, are in an inch. The higher the number, the smal

Now run the needle and thread back through the beads, and be sure that they are on top of the warp threads.(Fig. 3)
In the next few paragraphs, I will describe the steps, in words and pictures, of basic beading. Afterwards, I will describe a few finishing methods for bracelets, necklaces, and belts.
If the weft thread gets to short, weave it back through the beads a couple of rows, and cut it off. Now cut another weft thread and thread it through the last few rows of beads, ending where the other left off. Follow the pattern until it is complete, and then cut the beading off the loom, making sure not to cut the threads too short.
In these last steps, I will tell how to finish up the piece a few different ways. If it is a bracelet, necklace, or something like that, weave the warp threads into the beads. Do this with all the threads on one side, and leave two threads on the other side. Stitch a raised button onto the end with no threads. On the end with two threads, make a loop by stringing about 20 beads onto them and stit
