Cleopatra Report

I did a report on the last pharaoh of Egypt who was Cleopatra VI (6th). Cleopatra was born in 69 B.C. in Alexandria, which was the capital of Egypt at the time. Cleopatra's father, Ptolemy XII (12th) also nicknamed Auletes, was the Pharaoh of Egypt. He most probably married his own sister Cleopatra V Tryphaena. In those days it was okay to marry siblings and family members.

Cleopatra had two older sisters named Cleopatra VII (7th) and Berenice, she had two younger brothers both named Ptolemy and a younger sister named Arsinoe. Cleopatra VII died of unknown causes.

Cleopatra and brother Ptolemy inherited the throne in 51 B.C. after their father died. Cleopatra was around 17 or 18 when she married brother Ptolemy who was 12 years old, but it was just a marriage of convenience only. She married him because he was the pharaoh. He was always in the background while Cleopatra ruled alone. Ptolemy's advisors didn't like Cleopatra and banished her to Syria and her little sister Arsinoe went with.

Cleopatra was determined to regain her throne. Both Ptolemy and Cleopatra were supposed to meet with Julius Caesar to settle their dispute. But Cleopatra knew that if she went to Alexandria in the open Pto

Anotny got married to Octavian's half sister Octavia and had two girls. Then in 36 B.C. he married Cleopatra and had a son named Ptolemy Philadelphus. Octavia traveled out to meet her husband but he told her that he would meet her. Cleopatra didn't want this so she begged him not to go and starved herself so he gave in and stayed with her. Octavia went back home without seeing Antony. The people back in Rome were disgusted by the way Antony treated Octavia, and they were very angry to hear that Antony was calling himself a God and Cleopatra calling herself a Goddess. After awhile Cleopatra started experimenting with different kinds of poison to see which had a less painful death.

Later Caesar and Cleopatra went on a two-month cruise on the Nile. Cleopatra found out that she was pregnant at the time. She later gave birth to her son Caesarian or "Little Caesar." Caesar acknowledged Caesarian as his son because Caesarian resembled Caesar a lot.
