One of the things we can do to help homeless people is that we can start a canned food drive. Other things will be accepted, like hygiene items, etc. Money isn't a smart thing to give someone who is homeless, because they may not always use it for the things they need. They may go out and spend the money on booze or drugs.

I would like to start a homeless shelter in Hardin County. I know that this is something I cannot do by myself. There needs to be vol

unteers and funds to help start this shelter. Volunteers may be found anywhere in the community. Many school and/or church organizations may be willing to help out in starting and volunteering in the shelter. There are also some service organizations in the community that would have people who would be interested in helping. After we get volunteers together, then it is going to be important to research and analyze the homeless situation in Hardin County.

Homelessness is one problem that will more than likely never be totally resolved. But I would like to help the people who are less fortunate to be able to get back on their feet. Any of us could become just like the less fortunate if something happened that was beyond our control, like losing a job or having a major medical problem.
