Since just about the beginning of time, the "Star of David, Magen David also known as the Shield of David" has been around for many years. The earliest known Jewish star dates back to the 6th century B.C.E. located on a seal in ancient Palestine. Since then, the Star of David has become a universally recognized symbol of Judaism and Jewish identity, within the community and world. The Star of David is a symbol that my people have looked to for many years. Threw times of hardship and times of joy the Star of David has been a inspiration for all Jewish people, but how did the Star of David become the choice of character for all Jewish people. Who came up with it? Did it just pop up one day?

Many people have tried to trace the Star of David back to King David himself, Rabbi Akiva, and the Bar Kokhba but there is no such existence in Jewish literature or artifacts and documents. A lot of evidence gathered from scholars suggests that early use of the star was used for "practical Kabbalah", which is a Jewish magic from the 6th century. They say this because the symbol was located on the "Seal of Solomon." This seal was used to control demons and spirits. The relationship that the Star of David has with King David has to do with his shield. This magical shield that King David used was to protect him from his enemy's. The shield was inscribed with the seventy-two-letter name of God, in the form of a menorah (used as the light of Israel). After time the star replaced the menorah and became identified with the Seal of Solomon.
