Time Brings Change

The Devil and Miss Prym is the story of struggle between light and darkness that exist in every soul. The author of the novel, Paulo Coelho tends to explain its relevance to human beings' lives. In the story, with a terrifying test, it's searched if human beings are good or evil.

Chantal, who is the chosen victim of the test, explains whatever happened recently to the villagers. After this explanation, she thinks that inhabitants of Viscos will perceive the real evil. She believes that villagers aren't capable of killing someone for money. She is also proud of being able to save village from Evil. Then Chantal talks to a group of people gathered around the van. She notices that all of the village have wrong impression about what they have already talked and about herself. Inhabitants have chosen her, not the stranger, to blame. Chantal feels puzzled because of what she had dreamed of and what she had found. The only person in the village who knows what happened during the week is an old woman called Berta. They believe that, getting these golden bars is a chance to change their village's fortune, although they have to kill someone in order to have them. So, lives of all villagers begin to change on the way stranger wants.
