Getting Chills From “Pacific Heights’” Thrills Suspense films dish out “edge-of-your-seat” anxiety with nail biting anticipation to the audience by making them feel as though they were part of the experience instead of a mere spectator. “Pacific Heights,” directed by John Schlesinger, may have been more dramatic than suspenseful but it definitely delivered enough of both to keep the audience intrigued and thirsting for more. Men make all decisions, are never wrong, and can remain rational in any situation while women are submissive, wear skirts and cater to their husbands’ every whim, but not in “Pacific Heights”.
