"The measure of a human beings power is what he does with power" A person can use their power any which way they want. Some may use it to their advantage and help others, while others may abuse their power and use it for evil purposes. In the movie Schindler's List we witness human's power through those two perspectives through the characters of Schindler and Goeth. In the beginning of Schindler's List, we get a sense of Oskar Schindler's power before we even see him. The scene which introduces us to this power shows us all the expensive things he owns which tell us he has money, and money equals power. When we finally see Schindler we witness how he uses his money, charisma, and power of persuasion to his advantage. He uses all of that to help befriend high ranking German officers within the Nazi party, which he hopes in return they will allow him to hire Polish Jews to work in his enamel factory. Schindler gets his wish and opens up his pot and pan making factory with the help of a Jewish accountant and prisoner Stern
As the movie progresses, Schindler's view towards the prisoners becomes sympathetic when he sees the young girl in the red coat he watched in the streets body be thrown into the fire. He suddenly changes his purpose for just making money to saving as many Jews as he can by employing them in his factory. He went to great lengths to save his Jews from death especially when his woman workers were sent to Auschwitz. Because of his power status he was able to get the woman and young girls out of there. Today we recognize Schindler as one of the great rescuers of the Holocaust. Because of his efforts he helped save 1,110 Jews from death. Goeth on the other hand is remembered as a murderer. He was convicted after the war on crimes against humanity and hung inside his labor camp where thousands of Jews were murdered by his hand. , who ends up being very essential to the factory.
