Telecommunications in Business

Communication sets up relationships and makes organizing possible. Every message has a purpose or objective. The transmitter - specifies whether consciously or unconsciously - to accomplish something by communicating. In organizational circumstances, messages typically have a definite objective: to motivate, to inform, to teach, to persuade, to entertain, or to inspire. This purpose is, in fact one of the principle differences between casual conversation and managerial communication. Communication can be accidental (having no intent), expressive (resulting from the emotional state of the person), or rhetorical (resulting from specific goals of the communicator). Whatever the reasoning, grapevine communication occurs on several levels, - Itrapersonal communication level, Interpersonal communication level, group communication level, organizational communication level, and the meta-communication level. The final level is meta-communication. Meta-communication is a term used to refer to anything which a person takes into account as an aid in interpreting what another person is saying, the importance of the situation, and how to comprehend what is happening, etc. These expressions are therefore any clue or evidence of which a person uses in making a relevant his/her comprehension of something or somebody. How a person perceives information can determine exactly how information is passed along a grapevine.

The second level, interpersonal communication pertains to communication in which the participants exchange feelings and ideas. Forms of interpersonal communication include conversations, interviews, small group discussions, memos, reports, staff-meetings, conferences, or even electronic communication.
