A very important and influential aspect of our everyday lives is the mass media. Whether or it be radio, television or the internet messages, comment and opinions, ideas and facts are distributed and acquired by numerous persons. No matter the age or sex or religion, everyone listens to the media. The media projects messages that everyone believes for one reason or the other. The public identifies with the facts or fiction that are sent out.

The media is so significant whatever they relay to the public, we will absorb it and use it. For may years the mass media has tried to bring about peace among individuals, but as mentioned before, it was only an effort or try. They (media) have repeated tried and they repeat the same mistakes continuously. But the question is, "Is it really mistake?" Does the media really care about peace in the world? Many people do not believe that, especially when it pertains to racial and ethnic equality.

On certain television stations, BET being an example, there is a certain commercial where it talks about people having bad credit. There are no non afro-Americans on it. So by showing this image, it is trying to tell people that only people with "darker" skin only have bad credit. Another example is on various channels, one commercial shows a few Caucasians playing golf. On the course after they are finished playing, they are being served by a couple of darker skinned people. One of servers appeared to be from the eastern Asia and the other appearing to be from a country in South America. By showing a commercial like that shows the viewers that only people that come from third world country's can only work others and serve them. There are few commercials that show a person from a third world country in a high position at a work place. This will only cause tension between cultures.

In many people's view, mass media is an informal source of education, through the years it has failed to move people of the world along the road to equalization.
