A detailed Summary of Relationship between American Settlers and Indians


In the 1800's the relationship between the Indians and the American settlers was not very concrete. In fact it was pretty much non-existent. On several occasions Indians and settlers confronted and sometimes resided in peace and other times in bloodshed.

In the spring of 1811, Shawnee Chief Tecumseh was not on good terms with the

"white man". Tecumseh knew that settlers were growing in population and one day would destroy them. They needed to act now, when they still had if not an advantage but and equal opportunity to win their land back. Tecumseh went before
