Blanket
The song I chose is by an early 90s hardcore/metal band called Unbroken. The song is titled "blanket." This particular song seemed to express a similar view that I have. Is there a God, or some divine ruler of all? At this point in my life, I have seen no reason to fall under the impression that a God exists at all. Human kind has always tried to create explanations for everything that happens, dating back to Greek Mythology along with Indians and other cultures across the globe. People feel like they need something extra to grab onto. As a small boy, mainly forced into going to church, I only remember one thing about church, "another wasted Sunday morning that I could be surfing." After reading the lyrics to the song, the title comes more into focus. A blanket is used to protect us from the cold among other things. In the context of this song, the blanket is religion, or God. We as humans feel the need to cling onto something for protection or explanation. So, religion is used as an escape from the corrupt society we live in. It tries to bring people together, but it really only hides the problems, or covers them with a blanket. The song starts off in a powerful fashion, "born into the plan of making m
" I see no heaven, I see no hell, I just see us cling to the hope that it exists." The end of this song is by far the strongest point. There are many other people in the world who believe in God, but just hate him. These people are also reaching out for something to cling to. Why hate something that obviously doesn't care since nothing has happened? I see no direct impact hating God, or someone else's beliefs, would have on my life. If some people need to think that there is something amazing waiting to save us from destruction, then let them believe that. Sometimes I wish I could believe, but I just don't see anything to believe in. Born into the plan of making me believe or making me deceive in the faith I was raised twisting their devoted goals by bending true history slowly slipping away, away from my belief, blind faith in which you conceive so called divine, never appealed to me, never question what was taught, cling to the righteousness which you got, holding the blanket of serenity, falling away from serenity, faith will help us, it will save us, nothing you could ever do will change the way I feel, help us save us help us save us from ourselves, I see no heaven I see no hell I just us us just cling to the hope that exists falling further with every prayer you whisper it wont save, it wont save you. The more people become involved with their faith, the farther they slip from reality. Both of my gran
