Track -N- Field vs. Cheerleading: The Real Deal
In high school, I experienced the most competitive years of my life. When I was going through these transitions I realized my love for sports which were track and field and Cheerleading. Even though I wasn't ready for Cheerleading, track and field was my life and that was all I knew from middle school. Both sports really have given me advantages and disadvantages that helped me day to day to guide me through high school. In my ninth grade year, I was really excited about track because I was really good at the sport and I loved the thrill and excitement it brought when you were at track meets. I remember the coach talking to me in eighth grade and already having plans for me on her track team. Coach Ayers would always say, "Fisher, come on out and give it a try." The exercising in track was crucial. Since I was one of the stronger runners, Coach Ayers had me doing everything I didn't want to do and that was practice. I ran in all of the relay races and even some of the open 100, 200, and 400meter events. I felt that this was punishment for me. Exercising was extremely important but I truly hated it. First I had to do a warm up and then the exercising would begin for a squad together. The relay runners always practiced Everyday Ms. Powell would ask me, "Are you still going to try-out lil' raggedy?" She was so excited about one of her first ninth grade students trying out for Cheerleading. the track season, I noticed how hard everything was becoming.
