A detailed Summary of The Crucible


In Arthur Miller's play, "The Crucible", the people of Salem are very concerned with the truth, the truth is different depending on who is telling it, and people use their version of the truth to benefit themselves. Three people in the play use the accusations of witches to portray their true natures. They are Mr. And Mrs. Putnam, and Reverend Parris.

Thomas Putnam uses his perspective of the truth to serve himself. He is a prosperous land owns who seeks power. He is very bitter because his support of his brother- in - law for the job of minister was defeated. He took the defeat as a personal insult. He felt that his name and honor of his family was
