After reading "Savage of Inequalities", I was shocked and horrified at this town and the schools that children how to live and attend. I hope to never see or experience this in my life. If I ever had to teach in a town that had such poor conditions, I don't know what I would do, but I know that I would try to help them as much as I could and try to make a their learning experience a good and valuable one.
I really don't know how people, especially the ones that run the town and its facilities get so run down. To me, it's as if they are living in a concentration camp or a ghetto during World War II. Overall, this article has taught me that not all places are alike, but that the children are. They all want to learn, to be loved, and to feel appreciated; and they know when they are not. If they have a place to go to learn, feel encouraged, and feel like they have something to look forward to in their lives, maybe then will they make their lives different and want to try and change the community that they live in.
