I feel that God was almost never happy with the humans no matter what they were doing. If they were fighting with each other he destroyed them for being evil and if they were working together, he punished them for trying to gain too much power. I do not think that God always plays the "good guy" role in the bible. In fact, I think that he possesses many humanlike qualities, which makes him act hastily and constantly disrupt humans' lives.

I feel that the fact that God was not exemplified as doing only good had a large effect on human history. God's role for us was supposed to be someone who only did good and that we could model ourselves after. If we are tempted to do evil we could look to God to help us through it and show us how to do what is morally the right thing to do. In the Bible, I feel that God was not portrayed as such a moral being. He often made decisions based on only his own interests and on straight anger and vain. I feel that this plays a role in how humans view God, which could change their moral beliefs completely.

I feel anger wasn't the only reason that God punished humankind. I think that in a way, God was scared of humankind because he bestowed upon them so much power. He was the only one above them in rank and he was scared that if they got to much power that they would rise up against him. This is apparent when he says, "See the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever" (Genesis 3.22). God was scared to lose the few differences, which separated him from the humans, like eternal life. This is one of the reasons that he so harshly punished them, out of fear. This changed history because we do not know what would have happened or how our lives would have been different if he hadn't acted so harshly. This was not the only instance in which he tried to deny humans of any power that they could possess.

In doing this, God was showing off the strength of his power again and I feel it was in an unjust way. He was doing all of these awful things to the Egyptians and killing people while they were just following in the footsteps on their Pharaoh. But at the same time, he was hardening Pharaoh's heart so that he wouldn't set the Hebrews free and God could keep demonstrates all his power. It is clear that God was just on a power trip. He said to Pharaoh, "for this time I will send all my plagues upon you yourself, and upon your officials, and upon your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth" (Exodus 9.14). "But this is why I let you live: to show you my power, and to make my name resound through all the earth" (Exodus 9.16). I feel that God was more so doing this for himself rather than for the Hebrews. This again, makes me question whether or not God is really the doer of all good. He seemed to possess many human like qualities, which were apparent when dealing with the humans.

When humans started to work together with each other in order to achieve different things, God got scared. The humans proposed "making a city, and a tower with its top in the heaven, which would let them make a name for themselves" (Genesis 11.4). When God heard this he was nervous about the amount of power that humans could achieve if they all started working together as a team. He was scared that they would be able to rise up against him. He dealt with this fear by going down to earth and making different languages so the people could not communicate with each other and therefore would have less power (Genesis 11.7). He didn't want them to gain too much power and lose respect for him. He wanted to teach them a lesson and punish them in order to prove how much power he actually had himself and to
