Overall I liked Charles Simic's writings. In a dream world I think that it would have been fascinating to go drinking with Larkin and Simic. Maybe Simic could have helped Larkin to see that life is what you make of it and why not make it a good time?

The play on language is everywhere in this amusing poem. An example is the description of the way a mosquito handles everyday life. If someone is struggling with something it is often described as "beating your wings" (9) against the situation.
