Macbeth-Evil

The motif of evil is seen throughout the play, Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare. The motif is used to help the theme of darkness along, making it seem more sinister. Along the way, many of the characters use evil to their own ends, such as Lady Macbeth, in the way she helps in the assassination of King Duncan.

In the very beginning of Macbeth, evil is shown through the three witches who conjure a spell, and agree to meet "after the battle is done."(1/1.) The spell they conjure contains the phrase "fair is foul, and foul is fair" (1/1.12) which is a paradox.
