"Talking With Employees: A Guide For Managers" this book is vary informative in terms of suggestions, guidelines and dialogues a manager can make regarding employees. Three concepts that are seen in this book are, when you become a manager your relationships change substantially, when employees are failing they must be coached, and that manager should become more open minded and responsive in their approach to employees.
Concept # One: When becoming Manager your relationships change substantially.
When you are promoted to managerial rank, your responsibilities change substantially. It is customary to say that you use to manage your work but now you manage people. This book shows this statement is be faulty and in turn says that the fact is that your relationships change substantially and you must as a manger learn to deal with the change. One way a manager can deal with this large change is by segmenting these relationships into two parts:
Your relationship with employees as a group and your relationship with employees as individually. When working with employees as a group it is essential as a manager to have good solid communica

tion channels. Employees need some way of knowing the mission and strategy of the organization of which they are a part. As a manager, you need to know how work is progressing overall, and the overall work environment. Our text book say that communication channels are mediums in which a message is sent, and that good manager choose the right communication channels to accomplish their intended purpose in a given situation. Ways in which managers can keep the channels of communication open is to plan a series of communication vehicles such as, employee group meeting, staff meeting, letters, etc.
