Fellowship of the Ring
I read the Fellowship of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien. It is the first book of the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings, which is actually a sequel to an earlier book by Tolkien called the Hobbit. Each book elaborates on the tale of this almighty powerful ring. The book the Hobbit tells the story of how the ring first comes into the hands of this hobbit named Bilbo. A hobbit is the name of a creature of smaller stature of man who prospers in the lands around him. Bilbo doesn't know it, but this ring has this power within that gives mastery over every living creature, yet would corrupt anyone who attempted to use it. All Bilbo knows is that when he puts it on, it makes him invisible and keeps him from aging outwardly. The Fellowship of the Ring reintroduces the hobbit Bilbo, as well as the noble wizard, Gandalf, and the ring. A lot of time has passed since Bilbo first found the ring, and here he uses it his last time to take leave from his homeland of the Shire unexpectedly, using its power of invisibility, while throwing his own birthday party. Gandalf, the wizard, convinces Bilbo to leave the ring behind to his nephew Frodo before he actually leaves for good, a
A war in search of the ring is presently breaking out across the country. The enemy has finally discovered that it lies within the land of the hobbits. Gandalf requests Frodo to fulfill the task of bearing the ring to a council in the east, and his friend Sam, and his nephews, Merry and Pippin, join him on this quest. Frodo must take the ring to the land of Mordor where it can only be destroyed in the Fire from which it was created. The four hobbits don't make the entire journey alone, for when they reach the council in the east, they are joined by the wizard Gandalf, a dwarf named Gimli, an elf named Legolas, a descendant of man named Aragorn, also called Strider, and the character Boromir. This makes a fellowship of nine to face the Dark Riders of the Enemy. The journey of these men, and the places they travel through is what makes the plot of this book. Tolkien was among the mainstream writers of romance and epic since the days of Homer, author of the Odyssey, and thus this books falls under these categories. It's a romance in a sense that first, it partly shows a fascination with youth and innocence, second it explores the beauty of nature, and third, tha
