I will discuss science, superstition, and magic and it correlation with “Coldfeet and the Queen of Lonesome Island. Then, I will take “The Venerable Bede” and apply the same questions of science, superstition, and magic to evaluate its close relationship with magic and religion. In doing so one may understand differences in the writer’s thoughts and beliefs during this time period. I will also provide my attitude towards the topic and how the writer might influence the audience by using these genres. “Coldfeet and the Queen of Lonesome Island” is a brilliant example of the use of magic, superstition, and science to capture the readers’ interest, and engulf them in a vivid environment. The writers’ attitude towards this topic seems to be one of acceptance. Meaning that the writer uses these ideas to explore, entertain and enrich the readers mind by allowing a sense of fantasy to overwhelm them.
