Roles of Government
The size and role of government are two very important factors, and can be difficult to pin point exactly. The role of government plays a huge part in society, by establishing all sorts of standards for living. Standards for things like monitoring of our hospitals, food industries, environment, human behavior, and even out burials. So you can say government has been there regulating and controlling parts of our lives from our birth to our death. United States government has always played a large role throughout history, ever since the creation of the U.S. Constitution. The size of government has been decreasing greatly as our economy has been increasing. The balance in America now lies between the public and the private sectors, with the private sector doing more of the spending. The private sector is businesses of firms owned by individuals or shareholders. Large businesses like IBM and Microsoft are examples of the private sector. These corporations sell goods and services like cars and computers, or haircuts and dry cleaning. The public sector includes the following; executive office, legislative bodies, courts, and administrative agencies at 3 different government levels, the federal, state, and local levels. They ar
Employment is another way to judge the balance of government. The number of government employees is greater then the percent of the national labor force. With the higher percentage of government employees being 15.4 percent in 1996, and the national labor force at 14.4 percent. The number of government employees was not always higher then the national labor force, only around 1981 did the government employees over take the national labor force. This just goes to show how the economy climbing, the size of government decreases. I do not prefer a different balance in government, I feel how it is now is good. Both government and private sectors should not get any bigger, especially not government. If government gets any bigger it might be too big for our own good. Anything with the much control is bound to have problems, weather it is corruption or just people having different views on a subject. I feel education is a big issue when it comes to the budget, and I think education spending could be made more personal with local government controlling it. Schools would be able to find out what needs there attention, and could spend the money more effectively. They would have there scopes narrowed and would not have to worry about the incorporating the entire state, because ever town is going to need different things. Weather it is a better to put more money into a certain subject like English or math, or even to build up the facilities. I probably feel this way because I myself don't like impersonal stuff, I like to have my voice herd. So I guess it would be easie
