People often think interior design is a fun job and not a real one. Picking colors, decorating, choosing sofa, curtains, and "fu-fu-pillows" make interior design seems more like play than work. Yes, all of these are part of designing steps, but only a mere fraction of the whole process. Designing an interior space requires not only creativity, but good communicating, problem solving, and documenting skills. These are skills that are very crucial to the process.Communicating is the basic step to begin the process. It is the most important step. First we must interview our clients to understand their wants and needs. After gathering information from clients, the next step is to come up with a concept. From this concept, ideas start to come in mind. We put these ideas in pencil with sketches, bubble diagram, and then preliminary. Once preliminary design is acquired we present what we achieved so far to the clients. Most often we, interior designers, lack communicating skills. Maybe because we are more on the creative side and we tend to draw better than we can explain verbally.
