The Time Machine
When I was a little boy, I remember playing cowboys and Indians and I was one of King Arthur's brave knights of the Round Table. Everyday I would travel back in time and be a brave Indian fighting the cowboys for my land or a cowboy shooting bank robbers and even Sir Lancelot with his bravery protecting the King and Queen of Camelot. Now that I am older, sometimes I think it would be nice to go back one day and change an answer on a test or change a decision that I made yesterday that would keep me from being grounded today. I know I was not the first to think of this idea, it was in the late 1800's, H.G. Wells wrote a story about traveling in time to the future. At first the book is boring. I almost stopped reading it. My mother kept encouraging me to keep reading and sometimes would even make me read it aloud to her. The first chapter is a forecast of what The Time Traveller is trying to do. Once a week, the Time Traveller entertains several men from the community to dinner. The Time Traveller shows them a miniature of the time machine he claims to have built. He demonstrates the machine to them and it disappears in mid are. His guest think it is a clever parlor tric
The story takes place in the late 1800's. The majority of the book is a flashback. Normally, a flashback goes back in a time in history. However, in "The Time Machine," it is a flashback that dates back to last week that is also in the distant future. The complication of the story is it is a story within a story. An adventure that has occurred, yet has not occurred. "The Time Machine" is complicated because it deals with time. The following week, his guests return only to find that their host is absent. The Time Traveller shows up for dinner looking rugged and distressed. After he eats and cleans himself up a little, he tells his story. The group listens of his experience traveling to the year Eight Hundred and Two Thousand Seven Hundred and One A.D. The Time Traveller landed in front of a huge white Sphinx wer his home once stood. He meet an strange people called the Eloi. They invited him to dinner. After dinner, he returns to him time machine to find that someone has taken it. For the The Time Traveller becomes very upset, because without the machine, he cannot return home. The main character of the story in the Time Traveller. He is a man that is very intelligent and it shows throughout the story. Even when he is lost his time machine, he kept control. I liked the character because he was a gentle man that showed compassion to the Eloi and hatred for the Morlocks. It made a him seem read. Through out the book, the Time Traveller did not change, except when he went farther into the future, only to find what Christians already knew. The Earth is dying. k. The Time Traveller becomes very angry and invited the group back for a second dinner party the following week, when he intends tell of his adventures of his trip into the futur
