Effect of Economics on Society
The institution that will be discussed in the preceeding pages is Economy. The Economic Institution is defined as the organizing, production and the distribution of goods and services. This institution is responsible for providing cultures and societies with basic human needs such as, food, clothes, shelter ect.... Economy is looked at through a global perspective. The economy of our country, as well as other nations are interlaced or dependent on each other. Which means that if one economy suffers the other will be affected. Example if Tawaiin's labor union is overcome with the Ebola virus. American manufactures will suffer because there cheap labor will not be as abundant and there cost of manufacturing will go up and therefore increase the price of there little widget here in the states. In turn if the Taiwan's labor union can not perform, they cannot supply their families with basic human necessities and in turn their economy suffers as well. There fore you can assume that large international corporations hold a great deal of influence over the global economy. Due to the fact that these large corporations are also large investors. They have large amounts of money to invest and they look globally at all different and benefici
The American economy is known as a free market economy. Which means that the federal government does not impose stringent regulations to control it. It is driven by the idea of capitalism. Capitalism is the supply and demand of goods and services. There are three main properties of Capitalism. The first is "Private Ownership of Property": Which means that most good and services are owned and provided by people instead of government. The second property is known as "The Profit Motive". Which means that the more money people make the harder they work, adapt, and strive to invent to ways to make more money. The last principal is call "Free Competition". Which can be explained as if someone discovered something that consumers may need. It promotes others to bring that product to the consumers at a higher effientcy and a lower cost. One of the main ideas of America's Free Market economy is the pursuit of something better. The strive to provide a better living for your self as well as your family. An economy as an institution helps every American's ability to obtain the "Dream" of economic independence. Technology has played a significant role in our economy in the past couple decades. In modern days we cannot wake up in the morning, take a shower, go to work with out coming in contact with several forms of computers. Computers seem to be shifting our economy from an Industrial Economy to the Information era. The invention of the computer has brought the most important resource that we as consumers and as capitalists have. That resource is knowledge, and knowledge equals power, and power is money. This concept plays into part of capitalism in our goal to generate a profit. The affect that technology plays in the capitalistic economy is the quest for better technology. The quest for a system or computer to do things faster and easier than the other guy has created a niche in the system. Now technology is growing at an obscene rate.
