Sylvia Plath had some interesting judgments throughout her journal entries. One with which I agree is her perception of the world. She believes as time goes on, people's lives seem to become a broken fairy tale, with which I agree.
In younger years of life you have more time on your hands than you know with which to do. Responsibilities are absent and life is very easy. Not having to worry about paying car loans every month or taking out the trash is a plus. Also, a young person can sometime pretend to have homework to act cooler in front of their friends. Your life consists more of playing war and kick the can on summer evenings with your friends than anything else. Also, watching endless hours of cartoons while your mom is yelling at you about how your room is a mess is one of your biggest problems. Friendship is something which man can not live without. Having someone there in order to trust, compliment, and build a relationship upon is something that is an important necessity in our lives. Also, someone with whom to share interests and do activities such as skiing, biking, and camping is desirable.
Numerous judgements were made in Plath's journal with which I disagree. One judgment that is most prominent is Sylvia's perception of all men. Her life history has created for her a very negative outlook. Plath expressed feelings that men are just on earth to take advantage of and to rape women. She also felt that all men really want is someone to work in the kitchen. Therefore, I feel that her judgment is wrong. All men do not want to rape women at a fraternity party or try to use women to do things for us. Women are a part of men's everyday lives.
