In this book review, I will be discussing the culture of police in the L.A.P.D. I willbe discussing the topics on how the culture influences officers in the organization, and how lifestyles of the officer has changed in several ways. In the book, it decribes the culture prospective on the stages officers go through and adapt to. The L.A.P.D. is derived of many officers whom are associated with one another. Traditional and new policing has intertwined to make the culture progress. Traditional officers may perceive new officers in formal or informal training. Conception of traditional ways are different than the new ways of policing. Traditional officers, having higher status, can make an impact on the danger, authority, and efficiency on the culture. Socializing between each group draws a strong family among the culture. Officers can gain their role by socializing and raising their quality among the culture. By interchanging social aspects, officers do develop certain police solidarity and change through phases in their career. The phases start on their first day of academy and finishes at retirement. Although, many officers do not make it through the academy or reach retirement. Many feelings and hardships among
