Censorship

The first time I ever saw a porn video was by total accident. My mother and I had just gotten back from a beach vacation while my father stayed at home. I immediately got bored and turned on the VCR. I figured something like 'The Lion King' was in it. I was very wrong. At first I could not make out the figures and shapes on the screen, but as it zoomed out, I saw something I had never seen before, the penis. Sure I had seen them in the sex books my friends and I giggled over, but never a real live one in action! Immediately intrigued, I continued to watch the rough sexual act. Did it have a long term effect on me? No. The only thing that disgusted me at the time was the fact that my own father was actually watching it for pleasure. It's kind of like walking in on your parents having sex. You know deep down that they too get horny; you would just really rather that they didn't. My point is, overall, pornography is not such a bad thing. Obviously pornography is not made for children who have yet to sexually develop. The majority of people who watch porn are middle aged, married men. I would have to assume from experience that many teenaged and young men are also frequent porno watchers. Many a time ha

Many people would argue that pornography leads to the degradation of women and that women's parts are nothing more than objects to look at. What about men? Their parts are shown more often than not, and no one says a word about the objectification of a man. The point of pornography is to please. Significant pleasure is not going to come from fully clothed individuals trying to be sexy. When we think of sex, we think naked. We like looking at nakedness. Pornographic "actors" have to be naked in their line of work. If they had a problem with it, they would not do it. They therefore obviously do not care that people are looking at them in nothing more than a sexual way. A lot of times I wish I looked good enough to be comfortable naked in front of millions of people. The only time I get mad at pornography is when a girl is especially beautiful, making me extremely jealous. At least 'porn stars' have self-confidence.

Of course there is the possibly even bigger issue of "soft porn." Today, it seems as though television is becoming more and more risque. Take Christina Aguilera's new video, "Dirrty". Once a "'Genie in a Bottle,'" Christina has become what some people would call a "slut" or a "skank." Her tiny body is put into an even tinier outfit consisting of nothing but a bra and skirt that does not cover her butt. Personally, I do not want to see Christina's butt hanging out or her dancing sexually with various men and women. The only thrill I get out of it is trying to copy her sexy moves in the privacy of my dorm room. But there are plenty of people out there who are more than happy to watch her tantalizing moves over and over. Sex sells, and Christina Aguilera is living proof. People get a thrill out of watching it. I have to admit that I was glued the first time I saw it, just because the mood is so sexual. Many people believe that things that are sexual should not be allowed on television. The truth is, there is no way to avoid it. The First A
