Image of Society

The influence of media in society has effects on various age groups. When newspapers, magazine, and flyers, were the only mass media in the old days, influence of media in society wasn¯t as prominent as present. The development of technology has a significant impact on the contemporary society. The most effective and fastest tactic to reach people¯s mind is through media images and programs today. Television, as a prominent approach to deliver message, has potential to generate both the positive and negative effects on society. Not all media through radios and televisions are harmful. However, exposure to violence, inappropriate sexuality and offensive language are very convincing; especially to the children and teenagers. The growth of media also opened door to different culture across the world, which not only disturbs the contemporary society, but strengthen human access to the open world.

Recently, the Hip-Hop industry is shaping the trendiest teenagers in America with their powerful and significant market force. How is Hip-Hop culture reaching out to the all the teenagers in the United States? The answer is simple. It's through media that is delivered straight to the living rooms of every family and they are presen

Furthermore, advertisers create and apply these insecurities. Life is a competition to be noticed. °No one will like me if I had flaky dry skin, if my body is fat and ugly. No one will hug me if I sweat. If I'm a nerd and don't drink, listen to music, and I can't party under any circumstance, I won't be able to make friends. I won't even have chance to get to know people.± If I go to the hip-hop club with tight jeans and pair of thick glasses, I might as well forget about my chance of finding a girl. I will feel like an outcast since I am not catching up with the trend. In final thought, I assert that the images that media delivers to society could create false or unrealistic image, which act as galvanizing influence society in the real world. People might someday care only about the trends and media that they will no longer know what is real, true, moral and really important in life.

With the significant influence of foreign hip-hop culture into Korea, helped build the foundation of the Korean hip-hop, which are expanding very rapidly. However, most of the Korean hip-hop musicians are those that have spent some time in the United States. Then they put some English slang in their rhyme to represent or act like true hip-hop musician. But no one really knows how many of them truly understand what hip-hop culture is. The Korean music industry now targets teenagers to sell hip-hop products by using media. Since hip-hop culture is already placed in Korean teenager¯s societies, it only depends on how well they will market the hip-hop culture to gain profit. In conclusion, media decided to accept hip-hop culture to advertise product in Korean way. Their main goal is not to make Korean society understand African American culture or Hip-hop culture, but Korean market is targeting hip-hop culture to advertise product through the media to make profit, since hip-hop is what most of people wants to follow in these days. Koreans learn from the American rap artist about the hip-hop or trendy phrases without even fully grasping the meaning of the song or the phrase.

Back in my home country, Korea, most teens favor wearing baggy clothes and listen to hip-hop music although they do neither speak nor understand a word of English. Then, how are these teenagers in Korea informed with the hip-hop culture? This is all simple if they have access to any of these advanced technologies: internet, radio and technology. The media have broken the borderline against different culture and reach even the less civilized cultures like India. Korean people who speak totally different language and also with different background, now listen to hip-hop music and follow along with the hip-hop culture. These teenagers learn all kinds of °slang± even before they learn the proper English. This demonstrates the power and influence that media has on people not just in American culture, but ac
