A detailed Summary of The Necklace


The Necklace is a story by Guy De Maupassant, translated by Edgar V. Robert. Mathilde is a young woman, who is married to Loisel. He is a clerk in the Ministry of Education. They both lived in the middle class, but Mathilde always dreamed of having a big house and live in luxury. Her husband cannot fulfill her fantasy because he works for minimum wage.

Loisel works hard to support his wife, but she is never satisfied. One day her husband got the invitation from his school and inviting them both for dinner. He knows his wife loves to meet new people and this would make her feel happy. But she said, "what do you expect me to wear to g
