The murder of John Lennon, although not a technical assassination, still had an affect politically on the world. It affected many people, not only his friends, family, and fans, but the government was affected by this tragic happening. There are many theories on how and why John Lennon was killed. This essay will touch upon these different theories and look upon a few eerie things that may have foreshadowed this tragic murder.

John Lennon was known as a legend of his time, as a member of the well know British rock group The Beatles, he composed many record breaking songs with the group, and went solo after The Beatles breakup in 1970. Lennon was just about to make a solo career for himself when he was gunned down on December 8,1980. The question is, why was John Lennon killed? Who did it? And in addition, for what reason? There are two main theories that answer these questions. However, before looking at these theories it is necessary to look at the facts as they were seen and reported.
