Great Expectations
A detailed Summary of Great Expectations
Great Expectations is an excellent novel about a young boy and what he is to become. Pip says many things that make the story more interesting and suspenseful.
The things he thinks and does make the reader sympathize or maybe even relate to his feelings. The characters say many different things about Pip. Pip is to come into great wealth as he has always wished, but will it turn out to be as he had dreamed it? Pip has many decisions to make; will he make the right ones?
A thing Pip says makes the story more interesting. "I think she's very pretty", said Pip. Without this line, the story would probably not end up the way it does (at least, in Pip's point of view, it would not be the same). If Pip did not mention the things he does, he would n

ot be seen the same way he is now. In some ways Pip is a very confusing character. For example, he says that Estella is very insulting, yet he likes her even after he makes this known. Pip shapes the story for the reader with his words.
At the beginning of the novel Estella thinks of Pip as a "common laboring boy". This is known when she says "with this boy! Why, he is a common laboring boy?'' The reader also knows Estella doesn't like Pip. She says, "why don't you cry again, you little wretch?" It is also known that Estella despises Pip very much. When she says these things, the reader sympathizes with Pip very much. The reason is not only that the words are cruel, but also that Pip likes her, and her saying this cuts into his heart very much.
Some common words found in the essay are:
Estella Pip, Pip Pip, Pip Joe, , Havisham Pip, Joe Joe, Clara Pip, pip feels, common laboring, characters pip,
