MY CULTURAL ORIENTATION AND LIFESTYLE
MY CULTURAL ORIENTATION AND LIFESTYLEMy Cultural Orientation and life style My name is James Dempsey and I live in rancho Bernardo with my wife and son in what is known as a gated community. When you turn into my neighborhood you come up the hill and there is a security gate with a 24-hour guard. The security guard is paid through Home Owners Association fees we pay monthly. There is a call box with a directory that you can look anyone up on. When you call me and tell me you're here I will "buzz you in" by pressing and holding the number 9 on my telephone. If you need help you can pull forward and ask the guard for help. As a resident I have a different gate with a remote control to get in to the community. Upon entering the grounds you will find little traffic and lots of children playing. The community varies from 1bedroom condos to 4bedroom houses; we own a 2bedroom 2-bath condo. We have a small patio that we are growing tomatoes and squash from this year. There is a pool/tennis and recreation area that is maintained by the homeowner's association fees also. We chose to live here at this point in our life because it is a great environment to bring up our son Ryan. As he grows
bigger the need for a larger house looms over us. As my son would say "I live in Vista Del Lago, in Rancho Bernardo, in San Diego, in California and I'm proud to be an American". I do have friends from high school that have left the state of country that I still keep in contact with over the phone and through e-mail. I have gone through many changes from the time ten years ago when I was a single bachelor to now having a successful marriage and a wonderful son. It used to be all about me, but now I find that it is all about them. It's a great thing to be loved. I have been blessed with the gift of all gifts and it has changed my life completely. I would fight till I die for my family. Ten years ago I was barely talking to them. I don't drink hard alcohol anymore because I have seen the destructive way in which it grabs a hold of people when they drink it. You rarely find me out past 8pm unless I'm working. Weekends are family days not party days. I wouldn't change a thing if I could. I'm proud to be who I am and I'm PROUD TO BE AN AMERCAN! My dad is a republican, his father was a Republican, and his father before him. I have always been a Republican and have never questioned the fact. I was born a Roman Catholic by my mom's standards. At the age of 8 years my mother left and so did her standards and insistence that we attend church regularly. Given the choice of church or no church by my father at such an
