Antigone

The tragic hero of a play is the one who has a high stance in society, but because of his/her tragic flaw, a fundamental characters weakness, he/she receives a tremendous fall from his/her good fortune. In the play Antigone, Antigone suffers an unjust punishment, which causes her to fall from the royal family line to a criminal status and is put to death. Thus Antigone is the tragic heroine in this play due to her defiance, love for family, and her role in the kingdom of Thebes.
