These sources, I found, contributed greatly to the scholarly knowledge of the Second Great Awakening. I found that these revivals were, in the most part, directed towards the middle class and above. I understand there were many conversions from people of the lower class; however, it seemed to generate more towards the prestigious scholars in the community of Rochester. I found also that African Americans found great salvation in these revivals due to the fact that almost all were slaves. By converting, they must have believed that there will be a time for them to rest and relax, and that time would come in God's kingdom. I also gathered that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must have appealed extremely to those in the working class.
