relationship of race and violence in "A Brother's Murder" an

In " A brother's Murder by Bent Staples and "Battle Royal" by Ralph Ellison the connection between race and violence is evident. Both stories stereotype the black community in different ways. In "A Brother's Murder" the author basically wants to point out the growing number of young black males killing other black males to improve their manhood. On the other story the author tried to imply that being black in that period was very difficult because they were not looked upon as much as the white people of the same age and also that black people were only entertainment for white people.

Brent Staples wrote about a subject that I have passionate feeling for, and is the very controversial issue that affects many neighborhood the issue of black on black murder". In "A Brother's Murder", Staples beg


Considering again the relationship between race and violence I think that both authors wrote these stories to give a real example of how society reacts to different types of races and personalities, in both cases black people are involved. These stories made me get to the conclusion that stereotyping does not make any good to our society, however people like to make a difference anyway possible. In the case of black people, the way of dress, walk and talk might be one the cause why other people reject them, and why people relate their color of the skin with violence.. On the other story I could see another type of stereotyping, when the protagonist who was black noticed that all white people were bad because some of them liked to have black teens as entertainers.
