In the novel Flowers For Algernon the main character Charlie would have trouble agreeing with the statement above. Being accepted and liked by others is especially hard in Charlie's case. He has disability, and anyone who lives in this world knows it is near impossible to fit in and be accepted as a person when one has a disability.
