The Banquet scene
A detailed Summary of The Banquet scene
A tragedy, in a theatrical sense is defined as "a serious play with an unhappy ending, especially one concerning the downfall of the leading character/s". The leading character in "Macbeth" is Macbeth. Macbeth could be described as a tragic hero, as he has many good traits but a major bad trait, this trait will lead to the tragic hero's downfall. Macbeth's bad trait is his abnormally huge ambition.
The banquet scene (Act 3 Sc 4) shows many important turning points in "The Tragedy of Macbeth", the first point of which is; Macbeth's state of mind.

This shows that he feels guilty for what he has done, and had the Murderer not talked to Macbeth, then perhaps Macbeth would not have visualized Banquo's ghost.
