Politics in Indonesia

Indonesia has been gaining more and more respect for its political progress over the last few decades. Even though the country is spread out over a large area divided by water is still has great political involvement. What have the government officials done to keep the population so involved and how did they keep the population values so strong throughout all the different types of people.

Indonesia is made up of over 17,508 islands that span over a large area at the southern most part of East Asia. The main islands that make up the beautiful archipelago are Java, Sumatera, Kalimanter, Sulawesi, Papua, and one of the most famous, Bali. Some of the islands have no name because they are so small and no one lives on them. The biggest cities throughout Indonesia are Jakarta, which is one of the most important of the Indonesian cities, Suralaya, and Bandurg. These are the three cities where most of the population lives and have the most influence on what goes on in the political offices. The official language of Indonesia is Bahusa, the other two most spoken languages in Indonesia are Dutch and English. There are also 583 local dialects, which make political affairs difficult; they have to have translators explain to peopl


There are many different ethnic groups throughout Indonesia. The most important of Indonesia's ethnic groups are Javanese, which makes up 45%, Sundaese, which makes up 14%, Madurese, which makes up 7.5%, And Coastal Malays, which makes up 7.5%. The other 26% is made up of hundreds of other smaller ethnic groups. The government has a hard time relating to all of the ethnic groups and proposing plans that would benefit the majority of them. To keep peace between all of these groups alone would be hard enough, but to have them politically involved is an even greater accomplishment.

Indonesia has a large span of area that it covers and with that there are a lot of religions. The most influential religion in Indonesia is Islam. Islam makes up 87% of religion in Indonesia, and is the most widespread of their religions. Christian makes up 9% of the religion and Hindu covers 2%. The other 2% is made up of smaller religions all around Indonesia. With multiple religions surfacing throughout the country of Indonesia the government has to make long strides to keep everyone involved in the politics and feeling that they can be helpful in the shaping of the political system in Indonesia. With one of the religions taking up the majority of the population it is not as difficult on informing the people of Indonesia's political status, but it still takes everyone's effort to keep the country progressing.
