The most important of Indonesia's ethnic groups are Javanese, which makes up 45%, Sundaese, which makes up 14%, Madurese, which makes up 7.5%, And Coastal Malays, which makes up 7.5%. The other 26% is made up of hundreds of other smaller ethnic groups. The government has a hard time relating to all of the ethnic groups and proposing plans that would benefit the majority of them. To keep peace between all of these groups alone would be hard enough, but to have them politically involved is an even greater accomplishment.
