September 11th was a usual day for me, I woke up ten minutes after my only class of the day had started. Instead of rushing to class, like most people would, I got a glass of water and decided to go in to my computer room and go online. As soon as I got online I got in instant message from an old companion of mine. On the message she wrote: "New York City is on fire! Turn on your television!" I asked her what channel she was watching and she told me "it does not matter". I quickly ran in to my living room and turned on my T.V., Expecting the Today Show, I was taken back by what I saw. I saw the top half of one of the towers from the World Trade Center on fire, with the headline on the bottom of the screen reading "Plane flew in to WTC". At that point in time I did not know what to think. It wasn't until about 10 minutes after when I saw a second plane fly into the other tower of the World Trade Center, that I realized that this
9:59am just 56 minutes after being hit the South Tower came crashing down, floor after floor, one smacking on top of the other. The 110-story skyscraper felt like it took ten minutes, but in reality it was all in a matter of seconds. It was very tough to watch this happen, there was no way that they could have evacuated all the occupants from that massive building, more people had died.
Just as I figured the worst was in the past a new headline runs on the bottom of the screen. "Flight 93 hijacked", and they showed a helicopter view of a crashed plane in Somerset Pennsylvania. Apparently that plane was heading for the capitol but passengers intervened. All I kept thinking to myself was "this is a nightmare, there is no way in hell this could be happening".
