Total trust is always the goal for me when I start a friendship. Total trust for me only exists with my closest friends, the friends who I think know me better than anyone else. Being able to trust someone means you can be yourself and knowing you don't have to worry about embarrassing people or hurting people's feelings or having them think less of me. Unless something breaks the trust, I will be friends with that person for a very long time. I prefer to have a small group of friends that I can have lengthy contact with as opposed to a large group of friends who I do not know as well.
