World War 1

In times of great hostility throughout Europe, America sought to remain neutral allowing Europe to handle its own affairs. In these times of uncertainty came the preparation of a country. With this call for neutrality caused a situation to erupt where the war ended up being fought on two different styles of battlefields. The conventional one through out war engulfed Europe, and a second battlefield of the government against the people it was established to represent. During this period of time, the Great War would forever shape American Foreign Policy, and how it was to affect the world around us.

The beginning of the Great War was a period that showed a prosperous time for American industries and banking. The war engulfing Europe left America the opportunity to export the supplies needed for them to fight. Neutrality became a way to make more money from both sides as well as keeping Americans from fighting someone else's war.


The first major battlefield of the war was fought in Europe. At the time where the first Americans step foot on to the continent, the French where being over ran, the British fleet was being slowly sank by the German u-boats, and the Russians had all but disserted their front. It was this last chance to come stop the Germans from overrunning the Allies. The tables soon turned with the great number of American soldiers. It was this that leads to the defeat of The Central Powers in the Great War.

The second battlefield of the war was the one of the US government against the people who it was there to represent. The Committee on Public Information was established to manipulate information to help gain support for US involvement in the war. It became a war against suppressing any opposition to the war by whatever means possible. The Espionage Act and The Sedition Act became ways to ensure there wasn't any anti-war propaganda going
