The Outsiders

I read The Outsiders for a book report. It is a great book!

The book I chose for my report was the fifties setting novel The Outsiders. I chose The Outsiders because I had read Rumble Fish, which is of the same basic genre and they are both written by S. E. Hinton. I enjoyed Rumble Fish so I figured I would enjoy this book as well. Also, when survey the book; the main character's name was Ponyboy, which is a very interesting name. All these considered I believed it would be a good book.

This book was very interesting to me. I got see how it may have been to be a greaser in the fifties. Ponyboy is a young fourteen-year-old boy, who is not sure about a lot of things in his life. He is a greaser, and it isn't very easy being one. You have to watch out for your tail a lot, there are socs, the fuzz, and family problems to watch for.

He has two brothers, Sodapop, and Darry. He also has an extended family, Two-bit, Johnny, & Dallas. They help him a lot throughout the book. Everything seems fine until a couple of Soc's start hassling Ponyboy and Johnny, even trying to drown Ponyboy. So, Johnny does the f

This book made me very thoughtful. I found myself thinking about the book long after I sat it down. In fact, I still think about this book and it has been over 2 weeks since I read it. The book made me sad at times, happy at times, but always thoughtful. A quote I would choose from this book to describe these feelings is "Stay Gold" the last thing that Johnny said to Ponyboy. I will remember the spirit of The Outsiders. I will remember how engrossed I got into the story and how the characters appealed to me.

irst thing that comes to mind, he stabs the soc that is trying to drown Ponyboy. After that, Dallas helps them to keep hidden from "the fuzz". They go away to the country and hide in an old church. Dallas returns about a week later to take them out to eat and when they return they Church is on fire. Ponyboy and Johnny go into the burning Church to rescue some kids trapped in it. Johnny ends up getting hurt. They go to the hospital back home and everyone is calling Johnny and Ponyboy heroes when they know that they murdered that soc. There ends up being a big rumble between the Soc's and the Greas
