Sex education and the revolving issues are important and significant in our children's growth of learning and for the development of our future. Sex is an issue that should be introduced thoroughly to teenagers in high school through classes. Arguments are spewed out to protect our children from the ever-growing environment, which contribute to diverse views. Young adults are heavily influenced by the pop culture attracting them towards consenting sex and not really realizing the hidden issues relating to the emotional and physical consequences. Education to our young adults will better equip them to make more conscientious decisions about their sexual relationships. All aspects of sex education are needed to be discussed and reviewed thoroughly to insure knowledgeable young adults for our new society. Teaching sex education has numerous benefits that outweigh the negative impact it will have. We should realize the importance of this education nature being taught to teenagers in high schools. The security of future generations will then be prepared to stand up against the unexpected obstacles their future holds. With the proper methods and appropriate teachers, the information needed to survive will remain constant. The education of our youth will only insure their future. Sex education is not limited to only the physical and emotional ties, but rather relates towards a perspective in relation to life. The appropriate and proper programs should detail of sexual development, methods of affection, perspectives of the body image, and the distinct gender roles. Positive views are needed to retain the information given to adolescents about how to view sex and how to stay safe. The abstinence-only programs have only proven to send negative views on sex and that it is "bad". Safety on sexuality should be the motivation to the young adults to achieve responsibility and discipline. Inadequate sex education can be harmful to those whom are ignorant. Supplying the information to our teachers and parents is the first step in advancing the education of teens. Abstinence-only programs are directed to prevent teens from engaging in sexual activities, and therefore avoiding any sexually transmitted diseases and getting pregnant. Debra Haffner, the president of Secius, writes, "(t)here is no reason to believe that these claims are true. There are no published studies in the professional literature indicating that abstinence-only programs will result in young people delaying intercourse."(Motamed 2). Introducing teens to abstinence-only programs have not only failed but have also increased the condom usage among sexually active teenagers. Studies show that the government's intervention with sex education defaulted after issuing a $5 million abstinence-only initiative in California (Motamed 2). The movement towards sex education not only did not increase the number of students to abstain, but increased the levels of sexual activity in one school after having participated through the program(Motamed 2). This proves the alarming rate of sexual activities that allure young teens to have sex; the risky behavior and nieve perceptions inserted by the media. Most people believe that sex education will contribute to influencing premarital marriage and eventually unwanted pregnancies. "Conversely, a study done in 1987 revealed that girls who were not educated about menstruation and sexual activity were much more likely to become pregnant during their teen years." In addition, a "statement was issued by the Government Review of National and International Research in London, signified high school sex education as being effective in reducing teenage pregnancies." Supported by statements by the government, sex education in classes does not mislead our youth to social destruction and unwanted diseases and pregnancies.
