Nutcracker
A detailed Summary of Nutcracker
When I think of the first time I saw the Nutcracker I remember it to be very large and new and exciting for myself. My grandmother took me to see it when I was about 5 and it showed at the Pittsburgh Theatre with a sold out jam packed crowd. It was good to see the performance again at the Steele Auditorium on the half attended Friday and Saturday shows. In my opinion the theatre is a little bit outdated, and needs work. The Lights look pretty good, but the walls and sound system does not look or sound too well. I suggest putting money into paint. The Lights hushed low, little kid's wrestling in their seats to see the stage. The Curtains Open to 2 kids collecting money, where the couples are introduced as they are on their way to the mansion. Each Couple are dressed in what seems to be their Sunday's best. The skim raises, and you a luxurious mansion all decorated for Christmas, with stockings hung, and tree lit. The kids enjoy their gifts with excitement on their face. With the look of snow falling in the background and the atmosphere of a nice warm holiday cheer. Everyone is all nice and friendly, even the mysterious Drosselmeyer. The couples dance with ritual dancing styles. When they switch to the next scene the tree grow, whic

The presents are taken away, which I believed needed a black out to do this, it looked a bit tacky without it. Then the Rat King and his Rats appear, and applause to the light director on this, it made them look scary when they appeared, and the costumes were very nice. Then on came then cannon, which I would like to add that no one was warned before hand that there was bright flashes of light that could hurt their eyes if they have problems, it might not of been that big of a deal but still. I would like to say that the death of the rat king was not that great. The fight scene was a little weak. The shoe hitting the Rat King killed him. A shoe? A shoe? The big and mighty Rat King killed by a Shoe? I don't think so. The end to the Rat King seemed not to be important, but it should have been dramatized more. I heard people laugh at it, like it was a joke. I hardly think that a girl killing the high lord such as the Rat King would be funny. Now when we go to the next scene where the dancers come on and dance for the girl, I have to say by far this was drug out too far, and the costumes were not great. The one part where Andrew Drost dances with the young lady, and then
