Daniel Kevles opinion of cloning was written in a very low-key style. His title, "Study Cloning, Don't Ban It," makes the content of his story obvious, but comes across as a little bit boring. His opinion was written in a positive, flowery kind of way but it was not very passionate.

In Kevles opening paragraph, it is interesting that he would cite a line from "Songs on Innocence," innocence being the key word, asking "Little Lamb, who made thee?" Charles Krauthammer's article "Of Headless Mice...and Men" is an immediate attention grabber. Because this title is very dramatic, and gives no real indication of what this article is about, people want to read it. Krauthammer's writing style is much more straightforward and to the point than Kevles. This article is interesting to read and easy to understand.

In closing, Kevles points out that cloning could be helpful in fighting deadly diseases. And "someday an infertile couple might choose to have a child by cloning one or the other partner" (630). He also suggests that cloning could have "huge economic implications" (630). So, not only will cloning save lives and produce new lives, it will be hugely profitable for certain people. So cloning must be a good thing.

The entire tone of Kevles article was positive while Krauthammer definitely focused on the negative. Although Kevles opinion of cloning was definitely positive he was rather unemotional in his discussion. While Krauthammer's disapproval came across as being much more emotional. One author seemed to feel much stronger about his opinion than the other.
